Yes! I survived my first wedding. These two were so beautiful that words cannot describe. That’s why I will share there photos with you soon. I am working through them every night and hoping to have the complete package ready for these love birds in couple of weeks. Their familes and friends were full of laughs and joy and to see them support J&J was incredible. You can just feel the love in the air that these two breath. The fact that they trusted me and booked me shows how big and soft their hearts are. Thank you from the bottom of my heart J&J.

Here are two photos, shoes + bag. This woman has some serious style up her sleeve.

I have so little time to blog and I feel so bad about that. Thinking about making scheduled time for blogging every week. Maybe that will get me to post more.

Anyways, today is the BIG day. It’s the wedding of Jessica and Jacob. I am super excited. Last night I stayed up late getting everything ready. Both cameras are packed with all the batteries charged up, memory cards formatted, flash batteries ready, lenses are clean, etc. I am so happy that my husband, aka second shooter, is coming along for the ride. He will be helping me get through this and shooting mostly candids. Here is a little more information on our equipment that we are using for this wedding.

Jovana will be shooting with Canon 5D Mark II. I got to play with this baby and I fell in love. It was love at first sight. I do want to wait for Mark III release before I pull the plug and buy one of these candies. As far as lenses go, I will mostly be using Canon 24mm 1.4 L prime, Canon 50mm 1.4 and Canon 70-200mm 2.8 IS. I also have 580 EX II ready to go if needed but would prefer to shoot all using natural light which I think with couple of primes and a 2.8 zoom shouldn’t be a problem. What I like about Mark II is the ability to crank up that ISO if needed without loosing quality of the photo.

Bojan, my husband aka second shooter, will be using my Canon 60D with which I normally shoot. He will be using couple of lenses with this crop sensor camera. We’ll share 24mm prime that I mentioned above but for the most part he will be using Canon 24-70mm 2.8 L lens. He will also carry Sigma 610 super flash which I just purchased last week for myself. I like it so far and as I said, my preference is always natural light and only pull out the flash as last resort.

Like always, it’s better to end the post with the picture so here is Kristina and her cousin Luka playing in Grandma’s backyard with water, cars, etc.

Food photography

August 25th, 2011

I am super excited to attend another workshop in September. This time it is going to be focused on food photography using natural light. I already started practicing as you can see below. By the way, this cake is awesome. Blackberries are everywhere so it is pretty economic too. Enjoy!!

I appologize for not posting in awhile. My daughter was not feeling well last week which meant lack of sleep for everyone in the house. By Saturday morning, we were in a little better mood so after dropping Kiki off at Grandma’s, I went exploring Tacoma with my sister. I always see other local photographer’s shooting urban photography in Tacoma so it was on my list of locations to check out for sure. And we loved it. Tacoma has so much to offer and I am definitely going back. There are so many old brick buildings, abended garages, rustic doors, old cars, etc. My sister did a great job too. She is beautiful and here is a proof. I will soon share some more photos of this fabolous shoot. Here is a ‘not so much’ urban photo but we found this cute pink vintage bike with flower basket in front of a cupcake store. I love it.

As promised, here are my favorites from Amy&Guy e-session. Honestly, I could have blogged every photo from this session because each one is great. Having clients like Amy and Guy is to wish for. They were laughing and having fun the whole time. I guess I am a lucky girl but so is Amy. :) Enjoy.

These are the very first three photos I took of them. Hand shake, then kiss and Guy posing. :)

I love Amy’s smile. Who can blame her? She found THE ONE.

I must compliment Guy on his hat, very trendy.

For some reason this reminds me of Notebook movie, very romantic picture of them two.

I think it’s pretty obvious that these two kiss a lot by now. :)

I am sure the future holds a lot of great things for these two.

If you haven’t seen my photos before, I bring lots of sugar with me. Maybe that’s why these two were so happy and hyper?!

More kissing…..

I had to get a picture of THE ring. Nice job Guy.

It’s pretty obvious that these two love each other but just for the record…

Love these photos. (Thank you hubby for helping with setting up this tent)

Love those laughs.

And this is where we ended our session…

Clearly in love judging by their smiles and the way they look at each other. I am so excited about showing you the rest of the photos from this e-session. But, I am even more excited to photograph their wedding at ACT Theatre in January, 2012. Amy and Guy, thank you for choosing me and for being so awesome.

It’s been a crazy week I must say. Kiki has been fighting some stomach bug for days now and husband picked up something too. I am staying strong and not giving in. My school starts on 22nd so I am sure after few months of that, I will be feeling sick too. Last Sunday I got to photograph a 3 year old girl named Genesee whos photos I am still processing. I wish days were longer and I could fit in everything I love to do in them but reality is they are only 24 hours long and one needs to sleep to stay normal. I did manage to get few of her photos processed and I am glad I did because they are adorable. See my favorite at the end of this post. But first, let’s look at this week’s FAQ. :)

Do you have your camera with you wherever you go? – Ronnie

I think I did the first few months after I bought it but I don’t anymore. Instead, I organize photoshoots with family/friends if I need to go practice something like backlighting or test out a lens I am considering buying. There are several reasons I don’t carry it with me. One is it’s too heavy and very inconvinient to carry with a toddler non stop. Two I am afraid I will drop it or something. Three which I think is the biggest reason it takes away from spending time with my loved ones. If I am focused on the camera and taking pics, I don’t really get to enjoy the moments. My advice is that you set time aside to practice each day in the beginning until you get a good feel for your camera, your lenses and the key 3 (ISO, SS and Aperture). Also, shoot Manual only. There is still so much to learn after you feel comfortable with shooting in Manual mode like composition, white balance, metering, flash, etc. But that’s what I love about it, it’s challenging and you get better everyday.

Here is my favorite picture from my session with Genesee. The goal was to create a whimsical moment and I hope I achieved that. What do you think? :)

Wow, week three of FAQ’s. Time is just flying. I picked only one question I’d like to answer for you this week. Here it goes….

How did you learn about photography and using your DSLR? – Anonymous

Funny you ask because I just came back from my first workshop last night. This workshop was given by Photo Elan here in Seattle. I chose this workshop for few reasons. One being I saw it on Living Social (here I go with daily deals again) and it was only $49 so I was sold on it. Second, I wanted to go to one and see what these workshops are all about. I am glad I went even though I knew everything Brian was talking about but it was a good confirmation for me that everything I’ve read in the last four months is making sense to me.

But before I even attended last night’s workshop, I have pretty much swallowed the whole Internet you guys. I’ve been reading, and reading, and reading. Photography is an addictive world my friends so once I got hooked, there was no going back. The beauty of learning digital photography today vs. 10 years ago is that there is so much information online that if you really put some time into it, you can get caught up easily. But, don’t be fooled, there is so much to learn that it is an ongoing process, which is what I love about it. Every day I seem to learn at least one new thing.

Workshop offered by Photo Elan is a great starting point and I wish I had taken it at the very beginning of my learning curve. I chose a different path which also worked for me pretty well. Some of the websites that helped me learn and understand correct exposure (the key three: ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed) are Pioneer Woman and Utah based Photographer Aria. You can view those websites here. So to sum all this up, google it and you’ll be amazed by what you will find and look for local workshops given by photographers who are nice to share their knowledge and experience.

Please feel free to send me your questions and I will do my best to answer them in these FAQ posts. Thank you.
